Context

Advisors in the BAFA programme (subsidised consulting for German SMEs) mostly work alone, and the rules change often. The community is a purchased product next to the marketplace: same accounts, its own app, with access gated on an active subscription rather than on a role.

My role

Lead developer, team of three. Built a paid members' community for BAFA funding advisors — topic feed with rich-text posts, reactions and mentions, courses, live-call events, a leaderboard, in-app and browser push notifications, Stripe checkout, and a KMU-status assistant that pre-fills company data.

The hard part

TODO — likely candidates: gating access on purchase state across two apps that share one auth package, or keeping the notification system (mentions, reactions, push) correct as the feed grew. Or the KMU assistant, which has to tell a member plainly when the data is not enough to decide.

Outcome

TODO — paying members, posts per week, or course completions.
